Here is an amazing fact for you to think about. Netcraft reported, there was a 6 million ... Yes, an increase of 6 million sites from March 2009 to April 2009. Even more shocking is that there are well over 231 million active websites all attempts to get your attention. Imagine the odds. You are 1 of 231 million opportunity to get noticed on the Internet. Where do you think that puts you on a search engine ...?
I have done some research to help you get your music noticed and looked for ways to stand out in a very crowded e-market.I want you to be noticed, because you're taking a big risk. music is a window into your soul, and you must use a hard skin, combined with an open mind to reap all the blood, sweat and tears you have earmarked for your art.
Hint is specified as the shake, rattle and roll. There is no specific order to intervene. you do not have to shake before you rattle or scroll.
SHAKE
It is the music-not you-potential fans are interested in. I know ... I know ... you want a Web site with your name on it and you absolutely need. The music is what you want to sell, Yes? Then tell others about your music. Before you choose a name for the CD, make a domain search to ensure you can register a domain just for your CD. Use this procedure for every CD you release. Here is an example of a CD title, "Thundering turkeys Burning in Hell".I checked on name and surprising, this name has not been registered. Congrats! You have completed your first step. Differentiation. You are already more noticeable.
Next, you must identify your audio. Of course no one sounds like you or ever have written something that sounds like your music, so let us stipulate that have a given. Give people who haven't heard of you or your music get a sense of style, of how you describe your music. Your potential fans need a reason to force them to click.Imagine looking for new music and see this description, "you have never heard anything like this!".Is it rock, classical, jazz, pop? There are millions of cd's to choose from, and I know that I don't have time to fish for something, I have never heard before. It could be the alligators pairing. I don't know what an alligator sounds like simultaneous pairing, and I am not keen to find out. So I skip right unknown and move on to a description that grabs my attention. You've got your shake.
RATTLE
If I was the musician, recorded "Thundering turkeys Burning in Hell", I would like to say a few words that capture the essence of my sound.Try this for size, "Thundering turkeys Burning in Hell" is an in your face Marilyn Manson meets Joni Mitchell album. now I am curious. I do not like Marilyn Manson lyrics, but I love the Joni Mitchell. This is a ComboBox, I need to hear and absolutely worth a click. A music critic/editor/blogger can pick up on the title and say something like: "Thundering turkeys Burning in Hell" is devilishly clever and written so deeply and pøtisk Joni Mitchell song as any. Regardless of a music love musical taste gives you secure more clicks. Do not hang in the "there is nothing out there like this" rut. It is the carpool lane to invisible-ville.
Invite reviews or comments rather than a simple 5-star rating system. I say give away 100 downloads and instead of payment, ask for an opinion. Perhaps even 150 downloads. A common measuring stick for live performances says that if you can get at least 150 people to display for a gig, you reach. Reach out to family, friends and business partners. These 100 or 150 downloads is your launching pad. If you can get 100-150 people blogging, writing and talking about you, your range will extend. If you do this consistently, will your next publishing go much smoother. If the word has gotten out of giving away the first 100 downloads for opinions, will fans awaiting their monitors for the track to appear.
When the reviews start coming in, take not bad opinions personally. If someone took the time to write, it means they clicked on and most importantly, listened. These opinion writers will talk about your music to others. My take on bad reviews are they can be as constructive criticism written poorly, so Read carefully and with an open mind. Even if the revision is petty, you can use it to get attention. "Here is what people hate my music has to say about me." There will be a buzz about you and tweets starts flowing. People will listen just to see itself, if it is really all that bad. You have had your baby rattle.
ROLL
How often you reach out to your fans on a personal level? It is daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, every six months, once a year, when the mood strikes you? There is nothing better than an authentic consistent connection to your fans. Why?, sustainability, loyalty, tolerance. You want to produce more than one CD.They may not all be as popular as "Thundering turkeys Burning in Hell". How can you keep your fans from thinking you are a one hit wonder and drop you like a Polaroid picture? This is where consistent contact person comes into play and remember the authentic part. Sustainability applies to you, your voice and your ability to create music that people want to buy.
Loyalty is built by developing relationships and loyalty allows for tolerance. What if the CD follow-up "Ant Eating Flesh", where you have experiments with an electric harp, absolutely do not grade? The reason is not important for this example. You need tolerance to experiment with an album or to have a bad idea, so that your fans will buy it, even though they know not what your best work. It is not to say you have a license to get lazy and produce bad music, it means that you can have a rotten eggs and not fall off the radar.
When you reach the part where your shake and baby rattle is on, so you need to keep on truckin'.Google AdWords is a great free place to beat up on traffic on keyword searches. You must keep attracting new visitors to your site. For the first keyword in your name and CD, s title even if there is non-zero searches. But the remaining keywords should be relevant to you and your music and rank highly in the keyword search world.
Let's assume that your focal instrument is the electric harp. Before you use my keyword space, I would check it out on Google AdWords or any other free keyword lookup site. I made a keyword search on electric harp and it didn't make the top 10 searches. However, there were 1 million searches for the word "harp", so I would drop electric. use this logic for your keywords and you are sure to increase traffic and bring curiosity to your site; you have got your roll.
These tips are just to get you started; Now get down to business and shake, rattle and roll!
