Lists are a hotbed of controversy. Since the dawn of time, no list has gone unscathed, especially if it was compiled by SPIN Magazine. No publication has cooked up as many lists as SPIN - it’s a scientific fact. The mag just can’t resist coming up with a list for basically anything musical. And now, to prove just how long it’s been in the game (which at this point might not be wise, considering the archaic Rolling Stone is about the only other music mag to have been kicking around as long), it’s decided on the “125 Best Albums of the Past 25 Years.” In case you’re doing the math, that would be albums between 1985 and 2010.

To be honest, SPIN “Top 125? isn’t as questionable as most of its previous lists. Putting U2’s Achtung Baby at #1 is a bold choice that can be defended as much as it can be slammed (I don’t agree with the choice, but then again, I thought they would have picked something from the grunge era as the best). And really, I expected the mag to pander more to a younger audience by jacking up more current acts like Green Day, Kanye West and Eminem, but hey, those albums belong where they are, if I’m being objective. Plus, it’s nice to see them recognize the Britpop era, though “Where the hell is Blur?” is a question that gets me each time I peruse the 125 albums.
I would like to pinpoint five areas in which I think SPIN could have improved their list though.
1. Picking the wrong album by the right artist. Everyone has their own preference: Revolver over Rubber Soul, My War over Damaged or Super Trouper over The Arrival. But seriously, Rage Against The Machine’s The Battle of Los Angeles instead of their self-titled album? The Chemical Brothers’ Dig Your Own Hole over Exit Planet Dust? The Cure’s The Head On The Door over Disintegration? M.I.A.’s Arular over Kala? Beastie Boys’ Licensed To Ill over Check Your Head? And A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory over Midnight Marauders? Okay, that last one is a tough call, but the others aren’t. SPIN simply picked an inferior record.
2. Serious omissions. Raekwon but no Ghostface? Did they not hear Supreme Clientele? What about Sigur Rós’ Ágætis Byrjun, Modest Mouse’s The Moon & Antarctica, Deerhunter’s Cryptograms or Sufjan Stevens’ Illinois? And not to bite another blog’s complaint’s but Flavorwire got it right when they pointed out absences like Kate Bush’s Hounds of Love, Neutral Milk Hotel’s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, Radiohead’s Kid A and anything by Galaxie 500.
3. WTF? If this is about the “best” and most deserving albums, then what are Against Me, The Hives, Danger Mouse, Queens Of The Stone Age, Oasis and Lil Wayne doing on it?
4. Wrong order. It’s strange how quickly SPIN forgets its past. Smashing Pumpkins’ Siamese Dream at #61? Did they all of a sudden forget the mid-’90s? That album ruled. How about Arcade Fire’s Funeral at #66? Is it just too new to get the respect it deserves? Jane’s Addiction’s Ritual de lo Habitual at #94. I do believe this is up there with Pixies’ Doolittle as the reason why the word “alternative” actually stuck. The Strokes at #18, but The White Stripes are all the way down at #57? I believe they were both responsible for the resurgence of rock’n'roll, no? The Stone Roses’ debut at #69? Obviously, this is an American mag. And I know Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion was a 2009 release, but sticking it down towards the bottom at #114 just goes to show how SPIN is clueless about what’s currently going on in music.
5. Disrespecting the ’00s. Only 29 of the 125 are from the last ten years. The highest ranking album is OutKast’s Stankonia at #12. In the top 50 there are only five albums. In the top 100? 15. The rest are all thrown into the basement. Forget everything over the last ten years, it’s all about the past. The glory days, before the internet when SPIN was a cool and credible source to discover new bands. Now? Not so much. Or at all.

Secondhand Lions (New Line Platinum Series)
If you can get past its thick layer of syrup and molasses, Secondhand Lions reveals itself as a thoroughly decent family film that anyone can enjoy. It gets a little sappy sometimes, but there's something to be said for a movie in which Michael Caine and Robert Duvall play eccentric old brothers who take the easy approach to fishing: instead of a peaceful rod and reel, they use 12-gauge shotguns. When 14-year-old Walter (Haley Joel Osment, teetering on puberty) spends an eventful summer with his great-uncles on their vast Texas farmland (he's been dumped there by his delinquent mom, played by Kyra Sedgwick), he soon discovers they've lived lives full of adventure, excitement, passion, and mystery. Either that or they're old-time bank robbers with a long criminal record, and writer-director Tim McCanlies (who invested similar warmth into The Iron Giant) does a nice job of concealing the truth until the very end. Singer-songwriter Cat Stevens says he may sue the Coldplay. Did you hear about this? He said that the son brought it to his attention, "Viva La Vida" is this his 1973 song "Foreigner's Suite" and that he consider suing for plagiarism.
But first, he wants to wait and see what happens with American guitarist Joe Satriani, which already has sued Coldplay for copyright infringement. Satriani says that parts of his song "If I could fly" was recycled in "Viva La Vida".

You are experiencing today more than ever larger and larger productions in concerts. Multiple and even beyond what KISS did with their stage show back in the 70. It is nice to see a scene, filled with light, explosives, etc. But take it away from the artist? Is this artist hides behind the production? Does it matter?This artist has a 120 city sold out tour. But the artist is still trying to give the audience What came to. They have their core following. You will still need to be innovative and fresh, but you still have to keep something for your core fans. You can't turn your back on what brought you to where you are today.
So these tapes owns all this equipment? I do not know. These stores and many others have suppling the bands and artists with the tools they need, whether purchased or leased for a trip, or even a NIGHT; when we go to a concert, we only see a 1 and 1/2 of the work, while there are countless hours of work from artist road crew and many others, in order to ensure the show turns off the way the artist intended and people participating in the show.
Who is so great? Artist?The man behind the production?Vendors, lol well?My point is the whole must be true to pull off a successful arena concert.I know this sounds really stupid, but imagine a concert with no beverages or toilets.I can't believe I said that.Scary thought. so much important Things we don't ever ... think about; We just want to be entertained and have a good time; the whole point with this artcle is that there are many great bands and artists out there maybe lasted. some 40 + years, while the other lasted long enough to be just an opening band for a trip, or even less. They still had the opportunity to express themselves to an audience, whether it's just to entertain or tell a story, and their legacy still live today for a person or too many.

The Arcade Fire is fire
The Arcade Fire was too busy recently. First, there were the secret show, and then playing a Festival Home, while the same Weekend the released their last album, the surroundings. They live in Flow YouTube presentation New York Madison Square Gardens, and then played The Daily Show. And Saturday; heads to Olympic Island of Toronto on a concert.
Unlike other island shows in the past this concert started later in the day, but nevertheless presented grand opening acts. Polaris Prize candidate The Sadies opened, followed by Janelle Monae, who took the show began. Win Butler announced powerhouse OutKast by a protege, who had the crowd on their feet from the beginning until the end of the total. Everything-elegant Monae appeared on stage with a pair of slick oxfords about dancing feet and was joined by two masked dancing minions who danced in crowd and created frames.Of Janelle Monae laid-back affair dance POP is impossible not to make (see Many moons, stretched or heart however cold war). By the end of all, we were all warmed up until all temperatures and ready for some Fire Arcade!
The lights dimmed, the happy crowd, and Arcade Fire which took the stage with Ready-to-start resisting what was an active and strong set! Month of May was filled with fortitude and courage, which contrasted to light about the toes funeral favourite Neighborhood # 2 (Laika) followed.
From Haiti in modern Man all was mostly a mix boroughs and funeral, Neon Bible intervention as the only song from the album that made a appearce in Olympic Island. Even the delicate and beautiful Crown Of Love was a nice little surprise that was snuck in and even caused some to slow dance! Extension II (mountains Beyond mountains), an attitude that suburbs charm, was a highlight with Regines voice increased and the crowd sang along.
Neighborhood # 3 (Power Out) and rebellion (lies) close to all the public continued to sing the choral, ooo-ooo-ooos as soon as the band left the stage, calling for an encore.Arcade Fire happily agreed, and came back to play Keep the performance of the car.The night was then closed with what else, but Wake Up, their signature closing sing-a-long song.All formed their hearts.

Radio stations have often been criticized for playing it too safe, as far as new music. Quite often has been justified this criticism. Free classical music online-try "Music" + "Utopia"
I believe that the origin of the term "Mutopia" in The Mutopia project's name is "Music" + "Utopia." If I had my way, but it would be "Muphoria," because my discovery of this resource, put me on Cloud 9 and started me on my way to find many other such resources.
In short, is The Mutopia Project a collection of more than 1,400 pieces of sheet music (with more coming all the time), which is free for you to download, print, perform, record or even create your own editions. Say it this way: If you can find what you want in the Mutopia, you never go to a music store again.
They could have just as easily called it "music to your wallet." But I do not suppose that "Muwallet" makes any sense.
By using the Mutopia is very simple. You can browse by composer, instrument group, style or selected compilations.Or you can use the handy little search box and search for a piece by name.
When you come to the piece you are looking for, you can see a table that contains links that you can download scores in letter or A4 size, midis, or click for various types of additional information. Download is super easy, click on the letter or A4 links and score loads in Adobe Reader. print and you are!
Now, there are a lot of other places to find free music out here at Wild Wild Web. a lot of these sites is built on ripping off composers, turn down the offer, artists and all other types of musician. I do not support, (I'm a composer and arranger, after all), nor the Mutopia.
Each piece on Mutopia has to come to the company standard-if it is from the period classical, it must be from a public domain Edition (i.e., it must have been written before 1923, and not only the composer, but the songwriter, moderator and organizer should have been dead in 70 years). Mutopias contributors tell Mutopia which sources they left over from avoiding all questions, infringement of copyright.
With respect to quality, Mutopia has both was and reviewers are working at their choice; it is highly unlikely that you will find Mozart's k. 545 Piano Sonata in C shows in D on this site ...
If something does not meet the Mutopia's standard copyright-wise or quality-wise, get it on the site.And Mutopia has a reason to worry about details. Mutopia Publishing, who runs the project, actually sell some music, and it would bring its own larger undertaking on games with carelessness about copyright or quality issues.

Living composers have growing representation here as well, so if you see something you don't recognize, have a listen to the MIDI files available with each piece.
And a tropetræer. Perhaps the shops music will be fully closed by The Mutopia Project just yet, but if you take a look at their hand in time, you can see that many things that are missing from this complete set of things about your favorite composer is on the way.

LilyPond--particularly its latest versions--making the sheet music that is very similar to the old classic engraving style, so that the aesthetic pleasure is high.
LilyPond will however take only a little getting used to, if you are familiar with Finale or Sibelius ' re-accustomed to my layout programs; however, a discussion of, would require a separate lens. However, at LilyPonds site is a nice tutorial to help with the learning curve.
One more thing about LilyPond ...If you have stretched the fragments of music into a large database, LilyPond can be configured to convert an entire database automatically. Just a thought to all you heavy duty music researchers out there.
This potential for use of this music are now endless. If you are a music educator TOC, and you would like to introduce your students to a wide cross-section of classical music without breaking the Bank, you could either compile your own book or give your pupils links on Mutopia to download their own copy.
If you are a performer, you could download scores, do lots of concert dates (venues as public domain music also) and recordings without having to deal with the complications of figuring out who to pay royalties for, and what are the royalties exactly.
If you are a composer or arranger, would the free food for your creativity on Mutopia be enormous; it is amazing how many popular melodies are re-mixed from classical and Baroque melodies.
If you are a researcher, you can download music and mention as much as you like without fear of running afoul of fair use issues; you can also make handy compilations. Mutopia sends you the source files LilyPond If you want to edit your music to your own needs.
Of course, if you even the least bit business-sound, you can find the money to be made from Mutopias resources ...
Mutopia is moreover not the only public domain music resource, although it probably offers the most opportunities from one spot. There are many other excellent public domain music spots, but Mutopia is a good place to start.

This Wave model has four exterior blades that can be accessed even while the tool is closed. (Note: the knife blade can only be opened when the tool is closed.) You can open the blades with one hand by placing your thumb in the thumbhole at the base of the blade, and rotating until the knife is fully extended. This securely engages the locking mechanism.

So Radiohead has released their new album, and there is a twist. You can go to their site and download, then pays, however much you want it, even a big fat zero. It has been a subject which has interested me for a long time. How much should we pay for music? You can base it on how much it costs to produce the music, which is stupid money. I have registration in the weekend with my other band. For two songs took the 12 whole hours on something as £ 25 an hour (which is cheap, by the way, compared to a Studio I know that charges £ 50). So there is a £ 300 for precisely the recording, not including mixing or mastering, so even in the digital age-if we surrender on CD duplication and illustrations and just release it online it is still a big say.
Then there is the promotion on top of which generally do not come for free.Based on this, if a person wants to listen to an album to new music as they pay over a grand (£ 1000) for it, but it would be a bit insane. A tenner for a album doesn't really seem that bad now makes it?
This used never to be a problem, but now with the old internet music industry is losing out on lots of cash. I believe, goes back to the general public not to realize how much time and money (not that they should) problem goes in music. Most non musicians I've spoken with have been surprised at how long it takes to record a song.
You have then the fact that the public in the years believed that they were getting a lot of raw materials from the record companies.When the compact disc prices jumped significantly from the entries, it was easy to believe that records labels are just greedy when actually they were priced LP's for a moment and made a loss in years ... I think that this has made the public very blase about stealing music (including myself when I should know better).
So whats the solution, wish I knew, but I can easily see a time when musicians make all released live performance and licensing, and music just to the public in order to promote the Act and their live shows.I do not think it would be a bad thing, namely for many of us, it would be in the same way as it is now, but without the guilt.

Star Wars Trilogy
The Star Wars trilogy had the rare distinction of becoming more than just a series of movies, but a cultural phenomenon, a life-defining event for its generation. On its surface, George Lucas's original 1977 film is a rollicking and humorous space fantasy that owes debts to more influences than one can count on two hands, but filmgoers became entranced by its basic struggle of good vs. evil "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away," its dazzling special effects, and a mythology of Jedi Knights, the Force, and droids. In the first film, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) gets to live out every boy's dream: ditch the farm and rescue a princess (Carrie Fisher). Accompanied by the roguish Han Solo (Harrison Ford, the only principal who was able to cross over into stardom) and trained by Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness), Luke finds himself involved in a galactic war against the Empire and the menacing Darth Vader (David Prowse, voiced by James Earl Jones). The following film, The Empire Strikes Back (1980), takes a darker turn as the tiny rebellion faces an overwhelming onslaught. Directed by Irvin Kershner instead of Lucas, Empire is on the short list of Best Sequels Ever, marked by fantastic settings (the ice planet, the cloud city), the teachings of Yoda, a dash of grown-up romance, and a now-classic "revelation" ending. The final film of the trilogy, Return of the Jedi (1983, directed by Richard Marquand), is the most uneven. While the visual effects had taken quantum leaps over the years, resulting in thrilling speeder chases and space dogfights, the story is an uneasy mix of serious themes (Luke's maturation as a Jedi, the end of the Empire-rebellion showdown) and the cuddly teddy bears known as the Ewoks.
Years later, George Lucas transformed his films into "special editions" by adding new scenes and special effects, which were greeted mostly by shrugs from fans.
